I know Brooklyn & food from Italy. Go to the Red Rose! In the mid '80's - when I was young - we'd travel all the way from Bensonhurst - which was full of Italian Restaurants- and go to the Red Rose with my very Italian family. I remember I had a crush on the waitress (An Irish girl related to the owner thru marriage) As I got older, I continued to eat there with friends & family. In 2000, 2001 the food had become just OK. I didn't go back until the Winter of '02/03 O.M.G. - The food was great!! Now I go at least once a month!! Great Food - Great Wine - Great Place!

Everything I have tried here has been great, and I've been here at least a dozen times. The staff is usually very friendly too. The vibe is relaxed but the food arrives in a timely manner. The decor is very nice, but not too trendy or modern. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially for Smith Street. It is convenient too - only 1 block from the Carroll Street stop on the F train. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place to anyone!

Went there for the first time yesterday. EVERYTHING was just delicious. Had a grouper special in a tomato broth with saffron mashed potatoes, it was awesome. My friends had the pork chop and jumbo shrimp entrees and they were fabulous too. Our wait person was helpful and friendly. A most pleasant dining experience, except for the screaming 2 year old a few tables away.
